This week’s title is “Keti Koti Festival” and you might wonder why? It is something like a bigger sized Neighborhood Festival and “Keti Koti” represents the end of the Slavery in the Dutch Antilles (Curaçao,, Bonaire, Aruba) and in Suriname (formerly known as Dutch Guiana). There was lots of excellent home cooked Caribbean food, they had lots of fun stuff for kids (one being a large mechanical bull for a children Rodeo…you should have seen the row waiting for a ride). There was a stage where they played live music from Suriname. I have seen lots of the people wearing their traditional dresses and hats and it was just a really colorful mix of people. It is just always great to see events like this that show me once again how culturally diverse Amsterdam is. Of course there are alos lots of pictures from Cora as well ;-)
